You must have been there at very first light because I have never seen St. Edward's without many, many cars and people around--it's a very busy parish.

Your comment got cut off about the cross......?

The pics were taken mid afternoon after the fog had burned off. You can see the sun coming through the windows from the west.

Yep, it was a quiet moment in the church. The workers had just taken down the Easter decorations. They were to wait a few days before putting up Pentecost.

Yep, I titled that picture: "The Parish does not have a crucifix!"

That is just one of the challenges I will have to face when I arrive.

hi, Father Jeff,

given what I know of the cultural mix of St. Edward's parishioners, Mediterranean and from cultures colonized/evangelized from the Mediterranean, a cross with a dead Jesus rather than a risen Christ will probably be popular in the root word/best sense of popular. when the time comes.

(unlike a rich white parish close to home who hung a painting of a risen Christ in front of the large cross with a dead Jesus for the Easter season, complete with blue as an accent color to match their carpets.)

I am curious about the caption on the agony in the garden scene...where is is from?

The window hung in the first church (1880) behind the altar. In the new church (1958) it hangs in a side chapel.
