Congratulations, Fr. Steve

The Precious Blood Community rejoices in the ordination of Steven Dos Santos, C.PP.S. to the priesthood, celebrated this morning at St. Edward Church. Steve is shown here with Bishop Joseph Charron, C.PP.S. of the Diocese of Des Moine, Iowa during the Prayer of Consecration.

Steve reads this blog so I would appreciate it if you could post a comment here offering him your prayers and congratulations.

Congratulations, new Father Steve! You have joined a worthy band of missionaries of the Precious Blood. Know that all priests are in our prayers daily.

Saint Joseph,
I present to you this day
Father Steven, priest of Jesus Christ,
and beg you to be to him
advocate and defender,
counselor and friend.
Open your heart to him
as you opened your home to the Virgin Mother
in her hour of need.
Protect his holy priesthood
as you protected the life of the Infant Christ
threatened by cruel Herod.
In darkness bring him light;
in weakness, strength,
and in fear the peace that passes understanding.
For the sake of the tender love that bound you
to the Virgin Mary and the Infant Christ,
be for him, Saint Joseph, a constant intercessor
and a shield against every danger of body, mind, and soul
so that, in spite of his weaknesses and sins,
his priesthood may bring glory to Christ
and serve to increase the beauty of holiness
in his bride the Church.
Amen.

Steve,

What a lovely service! You did good. And you should know that(really) Stan's back is actually feeling better. He was so discouraged and after your blessing, he was feeling pretty spry that evening already. He asked if I thought it could have been your blessing...I told him stranger things have happened, so why not! Keep up the good work, Father.

The Lord bless you and keep you, and make His countenance to shine upon you.

Congratulations, to you, and to the people of God who are so fortunate to have you serve them.

Might we know what music was used at the ordination?

Only yesterday I was rolling around the Internet, looking for inspiration on the role of music - and what did I find? A draft of a document on the music ministry at St. Edward. If this was written by a team, it's the most concise team-produced document I've seen in my life. Way to go, St. Edward!

Was it this one, Mary Jane?

I wish I was there. (I've already told you why I wasn't.) You were in my prayers that day. Nikki and Joey send their love and prayers. You are still in their nightly prayers only this time it's " God bless Fr.Steve Dos Santos " along with all of the other priests we know. Dennis says hello, too. Marcey
