If the link is supposed to highlight the bulleted items and the inference is that they apply to the liturgy, I disagree with this one: They carry out a ritual that is minutely detailed, allowing no variations whatsoever.

The liturgy has places for legitimate variation on the part of the presider.

I've been subscribing to Catholic World News for several years now, and I find that they really DO have a world perspective. The recent articles on the suppressed Catholic Church in China, the world slavery crisis, Orthodox-Catholic relations, and scores of other issues, have always been thoughtful and thorough.

And, if you're a traditionalist Catholic with a strong stomach for sometimes overly witty, cynical, and satirical writing, you should make that "Off the Record" page at Catholic World News part of your weekly blog-surfing. "Diogenes" may be a bit irreverent at times, but it's some of the most intelligent and incisive analysis of current events in (yes, admittedly, our part of the) Catholic World.

Hi Michael. My perspective on their reporting comes partly from my attending the Canonization of St. Maria de Mattias. As a subscriber I looked forward to their coverage of the event. The pictures of the event show a sea of red, reflecting the Precious Blood and the fact that Maria is an Italian Saint. Yes there is a bit of yellow in the picture reflecting the devotees of the two Poles also canonized.

CWN reported only on those attending from Poland who sang Happy Birthday to the Pope. There was not even the mention of Maria's name. When I complained to the editor, the response was simply that They were reporting on things their subscribers were interested in. I cancelled my subscription.
